DHS: PeaceTime Emergency Relief for Community Mental Health Services and Supports

The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS), Behavioral Health Division will posted a request for a Mini Grant Application on Monday, June 29, 2020 for PeaceTime Emergency Relief for Community Mental Health Services and Supports. DHS is seeking proposals from eligible Community Mental Health providers that serve individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and Serious Emotional Disturbances (SED) for grant funding to enhance provider telehealth services and purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for staff use.

A copy of the Mini Grant Application will be made available on DHS’ Open grants and RFPs website.
Applications are due by noon on Monday, July 6, 2020, no later than 12:00pm Central Standard Time

The Behavioral Health Division, has approximately $700,000 in available funds. Individual grant requests may be for any amount up to $25,000. Funding under this grant may be used to:

enhance provider telehealth services including buying equipment to enhance provider capacity
increase services via telemedicine and other telepresence equipment to support agency operations
purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for staff use while delivering services
upgrade provider IT capacity including purchasing small IT equipment to provide services

Important Dates

Applications are due by noon on Monday, July 6, 2020, no later than 12:00pm Central Standard Time. Application sent by 12:00pm will receive a times stamp response from Heron Abegaze by 2:00pm. Receiving this time stamp is the only way to guarantee that your application will be reviewed. Other applications received by 4:00pm will also be considered.
This application will continue to remain posted for one more week after July 6, 2020. If additional funding is available, we may award additional grants based on responses we received after July 6, 2020 (4:00pm), but no later than July 13, 2020 (4:00pm).

Hennepin County: Apply for the COVID-19 Provider Impact Grant

Hennepin County is now accepting applications for the COVID-19 Provider Impact Grant.

Funded by the federal Coronavirus Relief Fund established by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), the COVID-19 Provider Impact Grant will provide financial support to contracted human services and public health providers who have been impacted by COVID-19.

The grant will fund expenses incurred due to the COVID-19 public health crisis to ensure that critical human services are available and accessible to support county involved individuals, family, and youth.

Who is eligible to apply?

Organizations who currently have a contract with Hennepin County Health and Human Services to provide services to county residents, and who are also either:

Well positioned to mitigate the disproportionate impacts of the COVID-19 public health crisis for people of color and low-income communities, since their contracted services prioritize racial equity, inclusion, and culturally specific outreach, or
Experiencing increased costs for facility adaptations, technology, staff training time, supplies, and personal protective equipment needed to safely provide contracted services in compliance with public health measures during the COVID-19 public health crisis.

Additional grant information

The maximum grant award amount will be $25,000 per organization.
Eligible expenses must be related to safely providing contracted services and the direct delivery of those services during the COVID-19 public health crisis.
Ineligible expenses include staff time or payment of vendors for time.
Eligible expenses must be incurred before invoicing the county.
Eligible expenses must be incurred between March 1 and November 30, 2020.
All invoices for reimbursement must be submitted by December 15, 2020.
Applicants selected to receive grant funds must keep appropriate documentation to support the expenses which have been incurred and cooperate with any county requests for information.

Pre-application information session: June 29, 2020
Expected award notification: No later than July 30, 2020

How to apply

Application materials are posted in the Hennepin County Supplier Portal.
Providers will submit application materials via the Hennepin County Supplier Portal. Providers who do not already have a Supplier Portal account will need to first register with the Supplier Portal in order to submit application materials.

State of Minnesota: Community Survey

We would like to share our community survey with you and ask that you help spread the word. As you recall, this survey asks members of Minnesota’s Black, Asian, Latinx, Indigenous, immigrant, and other refugee communities to share how COVID-19 has impacted them and share how the state can better support them in the COVID-19 recovery efforts.

This information is critical for our storytelling work that we plan to do to amplify our community’s voice and power. Please consider sharing your story through this survey and share this survey widely in your networks. The survey is in English, Spanish, Somali and Hmong.

- We are working hard in advance of the release of the COVID-19 Relief Provider & Family Funds! Applications will be available next week, so please stay tuned!

- We are looking for volunteers to serve on the review committees for the COVID-19 Relief Provider & Family Funds. It’s critically important that we have diverse teams reviewing requests that come in through these funds. Please contact Etonde ASAP if you’re interested.

- Upcoming meetings:
  CMHC BIPOC Discussion on Minneapolis Uprisings
  
  Wednesday, July 8th, 9-10a
  
  We will host an online gathering for providers of color & Indigenous providers to discuss the Collaborative’s response to the Minneapolis Uprising.Our hope is to have our BIPOC provider community lead in determining how the Collaborative responds to the recent events and the demands to create a new future in our region. As a entity focused on children’s mental health, we are part of this vision and as such, need to be intentional in our contribution. This meeting is for those identifying as BIPOC (black, Indigenous, people of color) only as a means of creating a safer space to have these conversations. It is critically important that we elevate the perspectives and experiences of people of color and Indigenous people connected to the children’s mental health system in Hennepin County region. (Note: this is a closed meeting only for those who identify as black, Indigenous, or a person of color (BIPOC).)
